Get to know the catalog for learners
LearnUpon's internal catalog, or catalogue, gives learners access to courses and learning journeys for self-directed learning.
Availability: all customers
Access permissions
- learners: view the Catalog by default when the catalog is turned on
- all other user types: access the catalog from their Learner view
Catalog is available only from a learner's view. Select User Settings > Switch to learner to access Catalog.

One source for all self-directed learning
LearnUpon's catalog displays the courses and learning journeys that learners can access and enroll on through your organization.
Banners
Use banners to feature current messages to learners, calls to action and reminders. See Set up banners for learners' Home page and the catalog
Each course gets a card
The course cards summarize a lot of information in a small space, including:
- course title and release date
- course image
- label for course or learning path
- label to indicate a live learning session
- length in time or number of modules
- ratings, based on number of reviews
The following screenshot is an example of a row of cards in the catalog. Learners can see up to 5 cards across, and the display resizes smoothly for smaller screens.
Browse, search and filter the catalog
Learners can browse the catalog for courses of interest. Rolling your pointer over the course card selects the card to take you to the course content details.
Learners can filter the catalog offerings by:
- Search - looking for terms within course content
- Category - uses portal categories to group courses
- Content type - specify courses only or learning journeys only. The default setting is all content
- Enrollment status - search for courses where learners are enrolled, or not
- Live sessions aka instructor-led training, or Live Learning
- Difficulty level - when included in the course details
- Skills - search by the skills listed in the portal
- Certificate available - for courses that include certificates
- Skills - for courses associated with skills
Filters are only available if the feature they filter is in use. For example, if no courses offer certificates, learners won't see Certificate available as a filter option.
Learners can also sort the catalog results by:
- Name (A-Z)
- Name (Z-A)
- Release date (Newest first)
- Release date (Oldest first)
Tip: when you restrict courses to certain groups, the restricted courses appear only to group members. Other organization learners don’t see them in the catalog at all.
