Simplify portal navigation for your learners
You can change the navigation view for your learners to hide Live Learning and the catalog pages. Optionally, you can set up 1 external link in the navigation header.

Customize your learners' experience by reducing distractions.
Add a link to relevant learning resources outside the portal - use HTTP, HTTPS or a mailto: link to provide a direct, easy-to-find connection for learners.
The custom link appears with a default external link icon.
Hide the pages, retain the features
This customization does not turn off Live Learning or the catalog features in the portal. They remain available for setting up courses with sessions, and for defining content as findable through the catalog.
The customization offers your learners a simpler header navigation, and room for 1 custom external link as required.
Access permissions
- admins with full portal permissions: can set up this customization option
Hide Live Learning or the internal catalog
- From main navigation go to Settings > Customization > Learner menu. The following screenshot shows the option highlighted in Customization.
- From Menu settings select 1 or both of the following options:
- Hide catalog link from learner navigation
- Hide live learning link form learner navigation
- Save to finish.
Confirm the change to the navigation
From your User settings, aka your initials or avatar, select Switch to learner, to confirm that 1 or both page links no longer appear in the header navigation.

The following screenshot shows the learner navigation with 2 page links hidden.
Add an external link to learner navigation
- From main navigation go to Settings > Customization > Learner menu.
- From External link select Enable external link and provide the relevant link details:
- Enter a Link URL
- Enter a Link label of up to 30 characters, incuding spaces
- For Link settings select one of:
- Open in same window
- Open link in new tab
- Save to finish.
Confirm that learners can access the external link
From your User settings, aka your initials or avatar, select Switch to learner, to confirm that learners can view and access the external link.
