Summary
Send your learners email messages about enrollments, due dates and other events. Choose which events prompt messages to learners, for a particular course.
Course notifications are available to all customers.
Enrollment emails
By default, LearnUpon sends an email to learners to tell them about new enrollments. You can turn off enrollment emails for the whole portal, or for individual courses.
You can enable enrollment emails for the portal and then disable them for individual courses. However, you can't disable enrollment emails for the portal and then enable them for individual courses.
Enrollment emails are different from other reminders available in LearnUpon at the course level.
Course notifications explained
Aside from enrollment emails, LearnUpon offers:
- enrollment reminders for courses: up to 4 reminders you set based on the enrollment date
- legacy ILT session reminders: up to 2 reminders before a session begins
- due date notifications: reminders based on the date which the course is due
You can disable the default course enrollment email at the portal level, and still use other course-level reminders.
For Live Learning training: when you turn on Live Learning feature for the portal, you can add email notifications about Live Learning sessions, and set the format of calendar invites. See:
- Live Learning and Instructor Led Training (ILT): overview and initial setup
- Live Learning: notifications overview
- Manage custom email templates
Note: LearnUpon is developing the next generation of instructor-led training (ILT) features. See Live Learning: overview and features.

Add enrollment reminders to a course

For best results, set up reminders for a course before enrolling any learners.
- From main navigation go to Courses > my course and select Notifications.
- In Enrollment Notifications select Send/Enable enrollment reminders?
- Enter of number of days after enrollment, for up to 4 reminders.
- Save to finish.
Tip: If you don't need all the reminders, leave the later fields blank.
The following screenshot shows a sample setup of enrollment reminders for 3, 7, 14 and 28 days after the enrollment.
Adding enrollment reminders when learners are already enrolled on the course
Ideally, you set up reminders before enrolling learners in a course.
If you add enrollment reminders after enrolling learners, learners in Not Started or In Progress status still get reminders, after you turn them on. LearnUpon checks when you enrolled the learner and compares it to the reminder settings, and sends 1 "catch up" reminder to cover missed messages.
Example:
You enrolled learners on a course 20 days ago.
Today you set up enrollment reminders for the course, as shown in the previous screenshot: at 3, 7, 14, and 28 days after enrollment.
LearnUpon compares the learners' enrollment date (20 days ago), and sets up 1 reminder to "catch up", for any learners' enrollments in Not Started or In Progress states.
LearnUpon runs the 4th reminder at day 28, as scheduled.

Tip: These notifications are for legacy ILT modules, rather than Live Learning feature. See Live Learning: create and edit an ILT module for a how-to about setting up Live Learning notifications.
