Summary
Change a course's owner, set options about how learners access a course and instructor, and set review options.
These course features are available to all customers.
Additional Settings are options to manage how users interact with the course, and with instructors. These options affect how learners experience the course.
These options also provide information to help users decide whether or not to enroll from the catalog or your eCommerce site.
These options are available from Courses > your course > Additional Settings.
For all settings:
- Turn the option on or off as required.
- Save to finish.
Change a course owner
By default, the person who created the course is the course owner. They are the first point of contact for learners. The course owner's name appears in the store, and they are the default instructor to receive learner messages.
You can change the owner to another instructor, a manager with instructor permissions, or an admin.
- From Course Owner, enter the name, username or email of another user with permissions to assign as course owner.
- Save to finish.
Note: In sub-portals, LearnUpon hides top-level admins' names by default. To assign a top-level admin a role in a subportal, you need their names to appear in the sub-portal. Contact the support team to change the default setting, to show top-level admins in sub-portals.
Manager can enroll learners
This option lets managers enroll learners. Managers can only enroll learners who already belong to the groups they manage.
This enrollment option has 2 parts:
- set the manager's permissions to enroll users - see Managers: set permissions to manage groups
- set the course-level permissions to let a manager enroll users
Course can never be completed by learners
Set this option so learners keep access to the course: for example, if the course is predominantly reference content.
While learners can complete the course, the course never moves to Completed Courses in their dashboard.
Allow course rating/reviews
Lets learners provide reviews and feedback. Reviews are visible to other people enrolled on the course, and appear on your store front. You collate reviews from Courses > your course > Reviews.
Review is mandatory
This option obliges learners to provide a review about the course when they finish.
Email course owner when a review is submitted
This option notifies the course owner about reviews.
Disable instructor messaging
By default, learners can contact instructors using the LearnUpon messaging options. Setting this option prevents learners from contacting the instructor by this route.
Launch to description
This option ensures learners starting a course for the first time always see the course description page, rather than the first module in the course.
Allow Learner to Unenroll from this course
This option gives learners permission to unenroll either before the course starts, or while it is in progress.
Difficulty
Set the course difficulty level to give learners an initial idea of what the course involves.
Course Length and Unit
Enter the course length, and specify minutes or hours, so learners understand how much time to invest in the course.
