What is changing for reporting, and why
LearnUpon is moving all customers to a new reporting experience.
The improved reporting experience brings every report into one builder, with faster performance and more flexibility to manage your data.
Availability: all customers
Performance
The new reports offer:
- faster report generation: reports run faster, with shorter wait times on large exports
- smooth handling of larger volumes of data: the reports are built to keep performing as your data grows, without the slowdowns of the older reports
A more consistent experience
The single report builder means:
- consistency: every report uses the same builder, instead of each report type working a little differently
- clearer data: data fields are labelled consistently, with aggregated summaries so you get an overview at a glance
- more filtering options: filter on more of your data, with a faster, more accurate filtering experience
- clearer exports: cleaner PDF and CSV files, with summary rows available, delivered as files rather than links
- more scheduling options: send scheduled reports directly to an email address, choose your delivery time, and delegate reporting to managers
Less manual work
The improved report builder means:
- less manual report building: automated scheduling and distribution reduces the need to create and send reports by hand
- faster overview of your data: aggregated summaries and a consistent layout make it quicker to see where things stand
- fewer errors: clearer filtering and labelling reduce the risk of misreading your data
Build a report
Some report types have more than one view. For example, a credit report can show a line-by-line activity feed, or a summary against a target.
Where a report type has multiple views, choose the one you need before you continue.
Choose a report type
- From main navigation go to Reports > + Create report.
- Select the report type you need.
Add and remove data fields
Your report is built from data fields, in the Add data to your report panel.
Fields are organized into categories, such as User > Identification, Personal, and Information, that you can expand or collapse, with a box next to each field.
- Use Search to find the field you're looking for, or expand a category to browse its fields.
- Select the field to add it to your report.
- Deselect a field to remove it from the report.
The following screenshot shows the Add data to your report panel highlighted with sample fields selected.
Arrange your columns
Drag and drop the column headings into the order you want.
Filter your data
Select the filter icon on any column heading to filter your report to the data you need, like a specific date range, group, or status.
The following screenshot shows the sample report with the filter icon highlighted.
Hide or delete a column
Select the 3-dot menu on any column heading for two options:
- Delete column: removes the field from your report
- Hide column on result page: keeps the field as part of your report, so it's still available for filtering, without displaying it in the results table.
Hide a column when you want to filter by a field but don't need it shown in the report. For example, you can filter by a user's group without adding a Group column to your report
To add a deleted or hidden field back, select it again from the Add data to your report panel.
The following screenshot shows a sample progress report preview with the 3-dot menu options highlighted.
Preview your report as you build it
As you add fields and set filters, a preview panel shows you 5 sample entries from your data, so you can check your report is set up correctly before you run it.
Note: the preview shows only 5 sample entries. Run the report to see your complete dataset.
The following screenshot shows the sample report preview highlighted.
Run your report
When your report is set up the way you want it, select Run report to run it and see your full dataset.
The following screenshot shows the sample report with Key performance indicators and highlights.
Export your results as a PDF or a CSV file
Select Export to download your results in another format.
Save and schedule your report
Save a report to run it again later, or schedule it for automatic delivery by email.

Skills report
Get a learner-level view of the skills across your organization, including:
- Skills and proficiency levels: see which learners have which skills, and at what proficiency level

- Other data: add group, job title, and other custom user data fields
- Save, export, or schedule: works the same way as your other reports
See:
- Skills: create and edit skills, link skills to job titles and courses
- Custom user data: set up custom fields
Learning journey report
Track learner progress through learning journeys, with 3 views:
- Summary: overall progress across all learners in a journey, including Enrolled and Completed statuses, and completion rate, per journey
- Progress: where individual learners currently stand in their journey, including their journey status, completion percentage, and courses completed against the total required
- Activity: the courses each learner has interacted with as part of their journey. This view covers course status, start date, and completion date for every course
