Connect time spent to training results
Time tracking measures how long a learner actively spends in a course or module page. This data appears in reports to provide deeper insights into learner engagement and quality of that engagement.

Overview: view time spent in training in your reports
LearnUpon tracks the time learners spend in modules and in courses. This time appears in the Progress report.
How it works
Time tracking is available only for portals using the redesigned interface and course experience. This feature is not available with the legacy course layout.
See Learner view: redesigned interface and course experience
LearnUpon records how long the learner spends on each module in the course, checking for learner activity every 10 seconds. The tracking stops when a learner changes focus in the browser, like when the learner:
- switches to another tab
- minimises the browser window
- closes the browser page
Time is recorded after 1 full minute of active engagement. Sessions under one minute long are not counted.
The results appear as minutes in the progress report and are part of the CSV file export.
Time tracking applies to all module types. The tool measures how long the learner is on the module page.
Note: time spent on Live learning events and sessions is either spent in person, or in webinars. These activities don’t happen through a module, so times recorded may vary.
