Provide interactive learning with SCORM
Upload SCORM content as zipped files to provide interactive learning modules. LearnUpon supports SCORM v 1.2, and SCORM 2004 (3rd and 4th editions). See SCORM and xAPI (Tin Can): overview for background.
Availability: all customers who use SCORM modules for course content
As best practice LearnUpon recommends: make an "upload" copy of each SCORM zipped file, to use in LearnUpon. Keep your original SCORM files separate, in case you need to revise or edit them.
After you upload your zipped file, LearnUpon combines your SCORM file with its own code, to work in the user interface. You can't download the SCORM file again to edit it, or use in another LMS.
Uploading files
Size limit for a compressed file is 2.5GB (gigabytes). See File types supported in course modules: overview.
- From main navigation go to Courses > your course name.
- From secondary navigation tab select Content.
- From the course content page, select Add SCORM or Tin Can > Upload File.
- Choose the SCORM .ZIP file from your drive. Encoding your SCORM file takes a few minutes.
- Save to return to the content page.
Edit SCORM settings
For Module Info, the only required field is the module Title. All other entries are optional.
The following screenshot shows the More > Edit menu.
Note: for Advanced Settings > Complete module when? LearnUpon strongly recommends using the default setting LMSFinish is received. The other settings are legacy options for customers with special SCORM requirements. Use these options only if advised by Support.
- From the course Content page, on the SCORM module, select More > Edit.
- Enter any changes to the Module Info card for:
- Title
- Tags
- Select Add Description to add text or images: learners can view this description before they start their course.
-
Advanced Settings:
- Set a mastery/passing score: for graded content like exams or assignments, the application picks up a default score as part of the SCORM import. You can enter a new score, without having to update your SCORM course and re-import the .ZIP file.
- Complete module when? Use the default setting LMSFinish is received unless you need to register a learner's completed course using a different criteria.
- Number Attempts/Completions Allowed: By default, LearnUpon allows unlimited attempts to complete a module. You can limit the attempts permitted.
- Overwrite previous attempt? and Only overwrite if better than previous? These options determine if the application keeps the most recent score, or only the best score.
-
Window Options control the appearance of the course window, and its behavior. Edit these settings if you have graphics which require a specific window size. These options apply to tablets only.
- Window width in pixels...
- Window height in pixels...
- Enter a value between 0.1 and 1.0 to vertically resize/scale content...
- Enter a value between 0.1 and 1.0 to horizontally resize/scale content...
- Save to finish.
Tip: if you're not sure if you need to set Window Options, test your course with and without settings on different devices like a phone, a tablet and a laptop to see how the graphics appear in different screens.

Upload up to 100 ZIP files or up to 2.5 GB at a time
Add multiple SCORM or xAPI packages as ZIP files to your library, to share across the portal.
Each ZIP must contain a single multimedia module of content and its associated files.
You can add both SCORM and Tin Can packages in the same upload, up to the limit of 100 files, or up to 2.5 GB (gigabytes) at a time.
- From main navigation go to Library. From the secondary navigation go to SCORMs and Tin Cans.
- From Actions select Add SCORM or Tin Can.
- Select Upload files to find and choose ZIP packages from your drive.
- Select Open to start the upload.
The uploading modal shows progress of your uploads. See the following screenshot as an example.
When the initial upload is complete you can see the bulk action in progress from the portal action tracker, as shown in the following screenshot.
For each line item in the portal action tracker, you can download a record of the action as a CSV file.
The file lists each SCORM or Tin Can ZIP you’ve uploaded, the files' status, and any errors. This record helps with any troubleshooting required.
See Navigating LearnUpon as an admin, manager or instructor > Portal actions tracker.
Option for Edge browsers
If you experience performance issues with SCORM modules in these browsers:
- Enable Open SCORM in new window for Internet Explorer and Edge users.
- Save to finish.
Warning: Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer 11 in June 2022.
This feature remains available to support Edge browsers.
