Send custom emails to learners in their preferred language
Update your current customized templates by identifying a language. With this template change LearnUpon can send custom messages to active learners in their selected portal language.

Improving multi-language options for portals
LearnUpon is changing its email templates so admins can send customized messages in multiple languages. This change won’t affect your current email templates until this process is complete.
Background: portal language settings, and learner portal settings
During portal setup, an admin sets a language for the whole portal. See Portal setup: title, language, timezone and access settings.
Learners can set a different language for their portal: the navigation, headings and tips change to that language. Your profile: the learner view.
From May 2024, LearnUpon is adding capacity to send customized emails to learners in their chosen portal language.
These customized messages use templates, that admins can turn on and edit from Settings > Email > Custom Email Templates.
Current customers need to review any customized email templates they use, to set a language for that template.
Note: portal invites and group invites to a group stay in the default portal language. The invited learner doesn’t yet have a portal account, so can’t select a preferred language.

One-time step for your current templates: choose a language for your customized text
For portals that use customized email templates: when you next open email templates, you need to select a language for the customized text you currently use and save the selection.
The following screenshot shows the page for selecting a language for a custom template.
After saving, you’ll see that language displayed next time you view the template. The following screenshot shows a template with Template language highlighted.
Prerequisites
- access to multiple languages for portals. See Portal setup: title, language, timezone and access settings
- have custom email templates in use. See Manage custom email templates
Access permissions
- admins with full portal permissions: can access the templates to customize their text
- sub-portal admins with full portal permissions: can access and edit the sub-portal templates
Optionally, sub-portals can copy the custom email templates of their top-level portal. See Create and manage sub-portals.
One time setup: select a language for your customized template
- From main navigation go to Settings > Email > Custom Email Templates.
- Select a template in use, aka a template with a black envelope icon.
- In the page that opens, select a language for the template.
- Save to finish.
