Summary
Admins and managers can remove, or unassign, a learning path from users one by one.
Learning paths are available to all customers.
Access permissions to learning paths
Admins can remove any user's learning path assignment.
Managers can remove learning path assignments for any user they manage.
The rule of thumb: if the manager can view the user's profile, then the manager has permissions to unassign those learning paths that the manager assigned in the first place.
This option is available from the user's profile, rather than through Courses or Enrollments.
The steps to unassign learning paths from groups are different: see Learning paths: remove a learning path assignment from a group.
Removing a learning path: effects on users, and reporting
This process removes an assigned learning path from a user. It doesn't delete the learning path or its courses: it removes the assignment only.
When you unassign the learning path, LearnUpon doesn't keep a record of the original assignment. It doesn't appear in reports.
If the user had not yet started the learning path, they have no course history or record of the assignment.
The learners who finished the learning path, with a status of Completed, keep records of their courses in their learning history, but the record of the learning path disappears.
If the user completed some courses on the path, they keep a record of those courses in their course history, without mention of the learning path.
Learners lose any course they have In Progress.
Broadly: letting users complete a learning path is less disruptive to learners. The record of their learning goes into the learning history. If you remove the learning path from users with In Progress status, those users get no record of the time and effort they put into the courses on the learning path before it disappeared.
