Summary
Enroll groups onto learning paths. Learn how to assign learning paths to groups.
Learning paths are available to all customers.
Group enrollments can take longer to process than individual learner enrollments.
Access permissions to enroll
Admins can enroll groups onto published learning paths without restrictions.
Managers and managers with instructor permissions can enroll groups, if the learning path options allow. See Learning path settings: details, enrollment access, and credits for how-to.
Enrollment permissions for a learning path override the enrollment permissions of individual courses within the learning path.
Enroll groups on a learning path
Once you publish a learning path and have groups in your portal, you can create enrollments. You can't enroll users on draft learning paths.
- From the primary navigation go to Enrollments.
- From Create New Enrollments:
- on the Select Courses side, select Switch to Learning Paths
- on the Select Users side, select Switch to Groups
- Select one or more groups to enroll on a learning path.
- Optional: select Re-enroll completed users? to add groups to a learning path they already finished: for example, to make sure learners do not miss mandatory training or re-certification.
- Select Enroll to finish.
LearnUpon confirms these enrollments when they are complete.
The screen shot shows the enrollment interface for learning paths and groups, with Re-enroll completed users? enabled.
Learning path notifications
LearnUpon sends learning path notifications to learners when you enroll them in a learning path, with 1 exception. For learning paths where:
- learners must complete all courses
- the enrollment starts immediately
...learners get a course enrollment notification about the first course, instead of a learning path notification.
For all other learning path conditions, learners get a learning path notification.
See Learning paths: create a path, add courses, set progression and publish to learn about the completion conditions and progression rules.
Enrollments for users with disabled accounts
Sometimes you need to disable a user's account temporarily: for example, for parental leave. See Disable a user account, or delete an account.
While their account is disabled, users are not enrolled on their group's assigned learning paths.
When the account is enabled again, LearnUpon enrolls the users in any learning paths assigned to their group which they missed. The user receives the course notification messages upon enrollment.
Note: this enrollment step to "catch up" on group assignments happens even if a learning path has expired. The learner needs to follow up with their organization, outside of LearnUpon, to determine next steps.
