Summary
You can assign moderator permissions to anyone in your portal: learners, managers or instructors. Moderator roles are not linked to other user type permissions: they apply only within the forum.
This feature is available to all customers on request.
Contact the support team or your Customer Success Manager to add forums to your portal.
For LearnUpon forums, a moderator can:
- create new posts
- delete posts or comments
- disable posting
- unpublish the topic
- archive the topic
Moderators have access to their assigned topic, and to the discussion. When assigned a topic, the Moderation tab appears on their Forum page.
They can create new posts, disable posting, unpublish the topic or archive the topic.
The following screenshot shows the secondary navigation available to a moderator.
Only admins can create topics, and have access to the whole portal, by default. You can assign moderators:
- by topic
- by course
- by learning path
By default, LearnUpon sends the following email notifications about forum content:
- forum moderators are notified when someone posts to a topic they moderate
- post owners are notified once a day about the most recent activity on popular posts they own
You can turn off email notifications if required. See Enable forums for your portal, and add topics.
Assign a moderator for a portal topic
Start by creating a portal topic: see <>Add a topic to your portal forum.
The last option in Create New Topic is to select moderators from your list of users.
Select Save to finish the new topic.
Change a moderator for a portal topic
This option applies for portal-wide topics only.
- Select the topic's moderators, shown on the topics page.
- From Edit Topic, enter a new name or remove an existing name.
- Save to finish.
Assign or change a moderator for a course topic
You assign moderators for courses from the same page where you enable forums for a course.
- From the main navigation, select Courses > course name.
- From the course details, select Forum Settings.
- In Moderators field, search for and select user names.
- Save to finish.
Assign or change a moderator for a learning path topic
You assign moderators for learning paths from the same page where you enable forums for a learning path.
- From the main navigation, select Courses.
- From secondary navigation select Learning Paths then select your learning path.
- From the learning path details, select Forum Settings.
- In Moderators field, search for and select user names.
- Save to finish.
