Overview
For courses led by instructors, you can register learners directly to a specific session. Sessions must be part of courses, so when you register learners, LearnUpon prompts you to choose a course to enroll the learner.
This option speeds up both session registrations, and enrollments for related courses.
The following screenshot shows the dialog where you select which course to enroll learners, as you register them.
Registering directly to the session also lets you register learners to sessions in the past. It resolves situations like:
- learners attended a session but weren’t registered at the time
- learners' attendance isn’t recorded correctly
Tip: For sessions in the past, you can exceed the maximum number of learners listed for the session.
The following screenshot shows Register on a Finished session, and features a learner added to a past session. Their attendance is not yet marked.
Prerequisites
You need to set up learning events with manual registration, with either future or past sessions, in published courses. You can’t register learners in events that aren’t part of a published course.
See Live Learning: create and edit sessions.
Access permissions
The permissions to mark attendance are the same as for creating and editing sessions.
LearnUpon offers separate settings for instructors for Live Learning:
- to create and edit Live Learning events. When someone creates an event, LearnUpon lists them as the event owner
- to create and edit sessions
- to register learners to sessions they lead
See Users: create an instructor, and assign them to a course.
Instructors assigned to an event can create and edit sessions for that event, and register learners to the sessions, when their permissions are turned on.
Event owners can register learners for sessions, when their permissions are turned on.
Managers can create and edit sessions in Live Learning, add sessions to events, and register learners to sessions they lead, when their permissions are turned on. See Managers: set permissions to manage groups.
Admins have full access to courses, Live Learning, and sessions, by default.
Register learners directly to past or future sessions
- From main navigation go to Live Learning > your Live Learning event.
- From Overview select Sessions and choose the session required.
- Select Register.
- In the dialog that opens, enter learner names or select them from the dropdown list.
- For learning events associated with more than 1 course, select a course to enroll the learner. You can select only 1 course.
- Register to finish.
LearnUpon synchronizes the learners and add their names to the session.
You can confirm their enrollment by checking the associated course Enrollments.
Mark or update attendance for learners registered directly to a session
For sessions where you haven’t yet marked attendance: you can mark attendance, upload a roster or download an attendance template for all the learners in the session.
For sessions where you have already marked attendance, you can edit the attendance record manually to include late registrants, as required.
