Connect Slack to LearnUpon: send notifications of course events to learners through Slack.

This integration connects your organization’s Slack workspace to your learning portal.
Slack “picks up” existing course notification settings and sends them through Slack, for:
- course enrollments
- course reminders
Learners continue to get email notifications as well.
You set the course enrollment notifications, and course reminders, through each course’s settings.
The integration works in one direction, sending automated notifications from LearnUpon to Slack. Learners can’t contact instructors or managers through the integration.
Access permissions
LearnUpon admins with access to portal settings can set up the integration.
They also require permissions to set up apps in your organization's Slack workspace. After setup, by default any portal user can add LearnUpon to their own Slack notifications.
Slack workspace owners can limit access to an app by requiring approval. See Slack's own documentation: Add apps to your Slack workspace.

Prerequisites
This integration requires email addresses as unique identifiers in LearnUpon.
Recipients must use the same email address in Slack as they do in LearnUpon.
Slack “picks up” existing notification settings for course enrollments and course reminders in LearnUpon. You need these notifications on, for the integration for Slack to work.
By default, LearnUpon sends email course enrollment notifications on all portals. You set up course reminder emails for each course as required.
Confirm your notification settings at the portal and course level.

Note: if you allow learners to opt out of email notifications, the integration for Slack can’t send notifications to opted-out learners. See Email opt-out.
Add Slack to your portal: one-time setup
You as admin set it up for your organization. The following screenshot shows Integration for Slack.
- From main navigation go to Settings > Integrations > Notification Integrations.
- Select Slack.
- From Slack, select +Connect.
- In the connection dialog that opens, review permissions and select Allow.
- On Notification Integrations, the integration appears as Active.
Remove Slack from your portal
- From main navigation go to Settings > Integrations > Notification Integrations.
- Select Slack.
- From Slack, select Disconnect.
- In the dialog that opens, select Disconnect to confirm.
