Summary
LearnUpon is a web-based SaaS (software as a service) application. SaaS is a method of software delivery that allows users to access data from any device with an internet connection and a web browser.
These browser requirements apply to all customers.
The user's computer must meet or exceed the minimum hardware requirements for the installed operating system (macOS or Windows).
Supported browsers

On these browsers, LearnUpon supports the most recent major version, the previous major version, and the mobile versions of these browsers.
As these browsers are updated routinely, you can find which version is the most recent on the corresponding browser's website.
Internet Explorer 11 is not supported
Warning: Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer 11 in June 2022. As a result, LearnUpon doesn't support IE 11.
Browser configuration
Using a supported browser, to make sure LearnUpon runs correctly, set the following options:
- enable JavaScript
- enable cookies
- use TLS v1.2 or later
SCORM and Tin Can / xAPI content
While LearnUpon has these requirements in order to run, this does not necessarily apply to SCORM and Tin Can / xAPI content. These content packages are developed outside of LearnUpon, and maintain their own compatibility requirements.
You may also need:
- Local storage enabled
- Pop-up blockers disabled
Your content developer can inform you of any compatibility requirements for this content.
Warning: Adobe stopped supporting Flash Player on 31 December 2020, and blocked Flash content from running in Flash Player from 12 January 2021. Adobe strongly recommends all users immediately uninstall Flash Player to help protect their systems.
View and complete courses in one window at a time
Tip: advise learners not to open a single course in more than one tab or window. The course will generate an error and they will lose their course progress.
LMS courses are designed for learners to work through sequentially, in a single window. Learners must start and run courses in one browser window or tab at a time.
LearnUpon tracks the learner’s progress through a course by notifications sent by the modules. If learners have to leave a course and return later, LearnUpon sets a “bookmark” of the last module they accessed, so they can pick up the course where they left off.
If a learner opens the same course in more than one tab, LearnUpon gets multiple notifications about the learner’s progress, can’t distinguish which message is valid, and generates an error.
This limitation is important to manage modules like timed exams, or exams that limit the number of attempts. Opening multiple tabs generates conflicting messages about progress, and makes the modules inoperable.
